The ask

The clients wanted Beautique, a brow and beauty salon on Centre Street in Thornhill, to feel calm the moment someone came in off the plaza. Arrival had to be clear. Waiting had to be comfortable. The treatment rooms needed privacy, and the washroom had to feel as considered as the rooms where the work happens.

The plan

We set the reception as the first object: fluted wood, a white top, and the gold logo above it. The waiting chairs sit in the daylight, with an arched mirror and a window into the next room so the salon stays connected without opening every door. Treatment rooms stay white. One takes a marble wall and a gold-framed mirror. Another is simpler: a bed, a curtain, and a small trolley. Gold fittings carry into the washroom. Plants and a few objects keep the white from going clinical.

The walk-through

You come in from the brick plaza to a wood desk and a pair of pale chairs. The treatment rooms are the quieter turn: white walls, a bed, and in one room a marble wall with a round gold mirror. The washroom repeats that marble and gold. Fluted wood at the desk, and gold at the mirrors and fittings, are what tie the salon together.
