Waterfront CondoA day spent with the water, and the quiet that comes with it.

Location: Toronto, ON
Project: Condo interior
Where: Living, kitchen, bedrooms, bath, balcony
Palette: Grey, light wood, and stone

Interior of a waterfront condo in Toronto, with a grey sofa, a light kitchen, and a view of the lake.

The ask

The clients wanted this waterfront condo in Toronto to let the view lead, without the rooms disappearing into it. Sitting, cooking, and sleeping all face the glass. The furniture had to be calm enough that the lake stayed the longest wall.

The plan

We kept the living room low and grey: a large sectional, a pale rug, and a light kitchen with an island just behind it. The counters are stone, the cabinets pale, so the eye travels out rather than stopping on the millwork. One bedroom takes a wood-plank wall and white bedding. Another stays lighter, with a daybed and a round mirror. A laundry and a bath tuck into the plan. The balcony is furnished, because the view is a room you sit in.

The walk-through

You walk toward glass. The sofa, the island, and the lake are one sightline. The kitchen is bright and close, never a separate destination. The wood-walled bedroom is the warmer retreat, and the lighter bedroom keeps the same quiet. Grey upholstery and pale wood hold the condo together. The water does the rest.
