Queen West CondoA long evening in, with the city content to wait outside.

Location: Toronto, ON
Project: Condo interior
Where: Living, dining, kitchen, bedroom, bath
Palette: White, black, and warm wood

Interior of a Queen West condo in Toronto, with a grey sectional, a white kitchen, and black counters.

The ask

The clients wanted this Queen West condo in Toronto to feel sharp and still be a place to sit for a long evening. The kitchen could be graphic. The living room had to stay soft enough for every day, with a balcony that belonged to the same plan.

The plan

A grey sectional faces a low wood media console and the television. The dining table is wood, with black chairs, set between the sofa and a white kitchen. Black counters and a black backsplash give that kitchen its line, and brass at the faucet is the warm metal. A mustard chair takes a corner so the grey has a second voice. The bedroom is calmer: white bedding, a dark headboard, and a small balcony beyond the glass. The bathroom stays white, with a wood vanity.

The walk-through

You come into grey upholstery and a wood table, the kitchen already in the same view. Black is the drawing line, on the counters, the chairs, and the fittings. The bedroom lowers the contrast, white bed and a dark headboard, with the city at the balcony. Warm wood, at the table and the vanity, is what keeps the black and white from feeling cold.
