North York CondoThe city is welcomed in, and the rooms know when to rest.

Location: North York, ON
Project: Condo interior
Where: Living, dining, kitchen, bedroom, bath
Palette: White, pale blue, and light wood

Interior of a North York condo, with a pale sofa, a white kitchen, and light wood floors.

The ask

The clients wanted this North York condo to feel settled the day they walked in. Sitting, eating, and cooking had to share the daylight. The bedroom needed one quieter colour, and the balcony had to feel like another room of the apartment, not a ledge left over.

The plan

We kept the main room pale. A light sectional and a low wood table face the windows, and the art stays quiet so the glass can do the work. The dining table sits in that same view. The kitchen stays white, with wood underfoot and a simple counter. The bedroom takes one blue wall, white bedding, and a white chest of drawers. A small desk holds the work of the apartment without asking for a separate office. The bathroom stays in the white family.

The walk-through

You come into a light room, the sofa turned toward the city. A few steps on, the table and the kitchen are already in view. The bedroom is the turn toward quiet: blue on one wall, white everywhere else. The balcony is the last room, planted and furnished so the day can continue outside. Pale upholstery and white millwork hold the apartment together. The blue wall is the note that keeps the white from going blank.
